Question : Find the Equation of a line l that goes through (12,1) and has a slop of ¼ ?

Solution :

We have Standard Form for “Point Slope”

y – y1 = m (x - x1)

Given (x1,y1) = (12,1)
m = ¼

Substituting in Standard Form

y -1 = ¼ (x - 12)
y = x/4 -3 + 1
y = x/4 -2

Hence the Equation of Line l is y = x/4 – 2
