Students can learn about right scalene
triangles here. The right scalene triangle is studied under Traingles
topic under Geometry. Students can get help with Geometry problems related to traingles from the online tutors.
What is scalene triangle?
Right triangle is a triangle and its one of an angle is equal to 900 . The remaining two angles are acute angles. The side which is opposite to the angle 900 is
hypotenuse side. The other two sides are adjacent side and opposite
side. In scalene triangle all the angles are different and all the sides
are different.
A triangle having three unequal sides and three unequal angles is called as a scalene triangle.
If scalene triangle consisting one angle as 90 degree then it is said
to be a right scalene triangle. A right triangle with angle measures of
(30 - 60 - 90) degrees is a special right triangle, and it’s also a
scalene triangle, because the triangle has three different sides and
angles
Scalene Triangle definition
Types of scalene triangles
Acute scalene triangle is represented a triangle with three acute angles and three different sides.
Obtuse scalene triangle is represented as a triangle with one obtuse angle and three different sides.
Right scalene triangle is represented as a triangle with one right angle and three different sides.
Special scalene right triangle is represented as a triangle with angle measures of (30 - 60- 90) degrees.
Area of a scalene triangle
The area of a triangle , If the base and height of the scalene triangle is given,
area = ½ * b * h square units
If all three sides are given, i.e. a, b, and c
s = (a + b + c) / 2
area = `sqrt (s * (s - a) * (s - b) * (s - c))` square units
Perimeter of scalene triangle
Students can learn to compute the Perimeter here:
Perimeter = a + b + c
The diagram given below the structure of a right scalene triangle:
Scalene triangle formulas
Find out the right scalene triangle from the given example:
choices:
A. Figure A
B. Figure B
C. Figure C
D. Figure D
Solution:
Step 1: In a scalene triangle, all sides will not be equal
Step 2: Here, the first figure has 3 unequal sides with 90o.
Step 3: So, first figure is the right scalene triangles.
Answer: A.
Example2: Find the third side from the given right scalene triangle:
Solution:
The scalene right angle sides are not equal and the any one angle will be 90o.
by using the pythagoras theorem
AC2= AB2+BC2
here AC=100 and AB= 6, and we need to find the BC value.
100 = 62+ BC2
100 = 36+BC2
100-36 = 36-36 +BC2
64 = BC2
BC = `sqrt64`
BC= 8
AB=6, BC=8 and AC=10, so above three sides are not equal and it has a right scalene triangle.
